The Inquiry is the first phase of the RCIA. At this point in the process, inquirers bring their questions about Christianity and Catholicism to the meetings and the RCIA team will do our best to answer them. If we are unable to answer your questions at that meeting or if you feel the answer was insufficient, we can consult with some of our many resources and respond more fully at the next session. We try to let the topics of our discussions be driven by your questions.
During the Inquiry phase, we do not hold any expectations for your level of participation and you are under no obligation to provide us with any notice or reasoning for missing sessions. You may choose to come one week and not return for 6 or 12 months. At that time we will happily welcome you back.
The focus of the inquiry phase is to address the concerns and questions many of you have before you even considered coming to the RCIA. We hope that by having your questions answered and hearing questions from others, you will gain a basic understanding of what it means to be a member of the Roman Catholic faith. We also hope that after having your questions answered and hearing others' questions answered, you will find it easier to decide if the Catholic faith is right for you.
For some, the answer may be "no", and when that occurs, be assured that there are no hurt feelings on our part.
Some of you may not be ready to make that decision, and for you, you are welcome to remain in the Inquiry phase as long as you'd like.
