Baby Love is an expanded Medicaid program that helps eligible pregnant women obtain healthcare services, expanded prenatal services and other services in order to ensure improved pregnancy outcomes. Pregnant women (as an individual or a member of a family unit) with gross incomes that are greater than income guidelines set for standard Medicaid programs may qualify for Medicaid under this program. Services are based at Lincoln Community Health Center.

Catholic Charities is a private, nonprofit, social service agency serving the people of Eastern North Carolina for over 100 years with a wide range of services. All programs are available to individuals and families regardless of race, creed, religion, or ability to pay.  In Durham, support to Spanish-speaking victims of domestic violence is offered through a program called Hacia La Paz Familia.  In Alamance county, Catholic Charities administers a family center called Centro La Comunidad.


Community Cafe

The Community Cafe is a service of Urban Ministries of Durham. Several hundred people go hungry in Durham each day! The cafe provides three nutritious meals per day, fellowship, and counseling. Volunteers are always needed to assist with meal preparation and food pickups.


Durham Congregations in Action (DCIA)

Durham Congregations in Action (DCIA) is an interfaith, interracial association of 58 congregations in greater Durham, reflecting a wide spectrum of Christians, Friends, Jews, Muslims and Unitarians. It supports many agencies in Durham dedicated to serving the homeless, the hungry, the sick and the poor (such as the Community Shelter, Genesis Home, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Durham Community Kitchen and Meals on Wheels).
It also has several initiatives to bring about community reconciliation and combat violence, including interracial partnership congregations and onsite vigils after each homicide to bring peace and healing to the neighborhood. DCIA also collaborates with Durham’s Department of Social Services to sponsor Families First, which helps families transition from welfare to work.


Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network (DIHN)

The Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network (DIHN) is a nonprofit organization that partners with over 30 local congregations to provide emergency shelter and support to homeless families, including overnight accommodations, meals, and transportation.  Holy Infant is one of DIHN's support congregations.

Since 1989, Genesis Home has provided a safe and supportive shelter environment for homeless families who are working to reconstruct their lives and maintain safe, stable households in Durham. The transitional housing program, Family Matters, helps families build their skills and address the unique cause of their homelessness.

Pregnancy Support Services (PSS) is a local cross-denominational Christian ministry offering support to girls and women facing the challenges of unplanned pregnancies. Services are free, confidential and available to all. Some services include pregnancy tests, peer counseling, maternity clothes, parenting education, baby clothes and equipment, post abortion support and abstinence education. Volunteer opportunities are available.


Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is a Christian organization whose mission is to preach the gospel and to meet human needs in Christ's name without discrimination.  They provide a wide range of programs and services for adults, youth, and families including emergency food and financial assistance, counseling, and worship services.

 
Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD)

Urban Ministries of Durham (UMD) sponsors the Community Shelter, the Community Cafe, and the Community Pantry & Closet. The Community Shelter provides residential services and programs to homeless men, women, and children. The Community Cafe provides three free meals daily on site. The Community Pantry & Closet distributes groceries and clothing to people in need. Volunteers are needed for preparing meals, serving food, distributing clothing and hygiene supplies, performing clerical work and other services.
