Time and time again, our parishioners have answered the challenge of placing the needs of our larger faith community above their own needs and wants. Perhaps you are one of our new parishioners or someone who is in need of outreach services. As a faith community, we are committed to assist the poor and the marginalized. We invite you to join with us in supporting the various outreach services which serve our parishioners and the greater Durham community.
“We are many parts, we are all one body, and the gifts we have we are given to share.” This song refrain written by Marty Haugen based on St. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Imagine if we sang instead, “Leave me alone and go get your own gifts!” That's not who we are. Instead we ask to be God's servants, to bring both the joys and pains of life to the Lord, and to seek self-sacrificing love as the greatest gift of all.
As the song concludes, “May the Spirit of love make us one indeed; one, the love that we share; one, our hope in despair; one, the cross that we bear.”
