For over thirty years the Catholic Church has offered a comprehensive and compelling vision of faith formation and learning—lifelong, for all ages and generations, rooted in the life of the Church. In embracing the vision of faith formation in the Vatican document, the General Directory for Catechesis, Holy Infant has adopted a community or “whole church” model of faith formation. Whole community catechesis is the primary form of faith formation at Holy Infant. HI-life is the name that our parish has chosen for this process of whole community catechesis.
H (Holy) I (Infant)-life embraces an intergenerational, apprenticeship model— being a part of a faith community that:

learns together |
| I |

inspires one another |
| F |

| E |

embraces the ordinary |
HI-life aims to help households grow in their Catholic identity and emphasizes:
-
participating at the weekend liturgy and other liturgical celebrations in the Church Year
-
praying and living the faith at home
-
rediscovering our Catholic traditions
-
making decisions through the lens of our Christian values
Through our HI-life process we will cover the core tenets of our Catholic faith over a six year period: celebrations and seasons of the liturgical year; the sacramental life of the Church; justice and peace; the Creed; morality and prayer.
HI-life is for Everyone!!! The Church has been reminding us over and over in recent years that the aim of all catechesis is mature adult discipleship. Catechesis is not just for children! At our HI-life Gatherings, parents and children come together – no child is dropped off!
HI-life brings generations together. It encourages the practice of the faith in our day-to-day lives. Resources and encouragement to live the faith in the home are an integral part of the HI-life process. Resources focus on adult formation, parenting, building family traditions, celebrating the ordinary, as well as special occasions, and life issues.
